Latinx Games Festival 2024

Session Times TBD Latinx Games Festival is a celebration of Gaming, Latino Culture and Latin American Game Development! Join us In-Person at the National Cultural Hispanic Center from September 20th - September 22th, 2024. Featuring insightful panels, playable Latino made video games, career advancement opportunities, the first ever Latino Games Exhibition, and The Latinx Game Awards, this festival connects our community to the video game industry and plants the seeds for a culturally richer, more mature video game industry. Colcha Community Stitch A-Long

9:30 am in-person 10:30 am Zoom – cancelled for September, please check back next month Our Colcha Community Stich-A-Long is open to all levels of experience in an informal setting. This workshop is instructed by Annette Gutierrez-Turk. Annette has taught colcha, a Spanish Colonial embroidery style, to groups internationally and at the NHCC for many years. She is also an award-winning artist, most recently recognized in 2019 at Traditional Spanish Market in Santa Fe. Annette is taking September off. 1:30 – 3:30 pm NHCC | Salon Ortega Latin Dance for Seniors will feature 4 weeks of Latin dance lessons taught by instructor Carlota Silva. Classes run for four consecutive Wednesdays from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Latin Dance for Seniors is part of the NHCC’s Siempre Creativo program which provides a free multidisciplinary arts programs for seniors. Free Community Event, generously supported by AARP. Noche de Familia: Bless Me, Ultima

Arte Para Chiquitos

10:00 – 10:45 am Arte para chiquitos is a free, monthly, 45-minute program for babies and toddlers ages 0 months to 4 years and their caregivers that cultivates creativity and self-expression through the exploration of Hispanic/Latine arts and culture. Participants explore the NHCC Museum, Performing Arts Center, and engage in artmaking, music, movement, dance, drama, and bilingual story time. NHCC instructors model age-appropriate arts techniques that celebrate self-expression, build vocabulary, and strengthen both fine-motor and gross-motor skills in a fun environment. Siempre Creativo: New Mexico Folk Dance for Seniors

1:30 - 3:30 pm New Mexico Folk Dance for Seniors will feature 4 weeks of traditional Folk dance lessons, including the traditional La Marcha dance, taught by instructor Lucy Salazar.
