  • Visual Arts Museum: First Sunday Free Admission

    10:00 am to 4:00 pm The Art Museum presents multiple exhibitions in its three gallery spaces each year and welcomes visitors of all ages. Our three galleries showcase artworks from a range of media that focus on diverse subject matter and examine identity and culture. On the first Sunday of every month, the Visual Arts Museum is free to all New Mexico residents!

Gabriel Melendez, Citizens by Treaty/Ciudadanos por tratado, with a writing workshop on Saturday, Sept. 13. Melendez’s book gathers works produced by Spanish-speaking people of Mexican descent who became US citizens by virtue of the Treaty of Guadalup Hidalgo (1948) and whose ancestors had resided in New Mexico, Arizona, California, Texas, and Colorado for hundreds of years.   • Saturday Special- Torreón Tour: Mundos de Mestizaje

    11:00 am In addition to our regularly scheduled Thursday and Friday Torreón Tours, the National Hispanic Cultural Center now has a newly added Saturday Tour on the second Saturday of every month. This is a guided tour of the Mundos de Mestizaje fresco created by artist Frederico Vigil, located in the Torreón on the NHCC Campus, depicting thousands of years of Hispanic culture, history, and identity.
