10:30 am to 12:00 pm On the first Saturday morning of every month, join us for this fun and engaging artist-led family program. During the March event, families (limited to 25 participants) will get a 30-minute museum tour focused on the NHCC Art Museum’s current exhibit Fantasía Fantástica: Imaginative Spaces and Other-Worldly Collage led by artist Rachel Muldez, whose work you will see in the exhibit. Following the tour, the whole family can create their own artwork with Rachel’s help in the Pete V. 2 pm to 4 pm Join Dr. Victor Valle, an Emeritus professor of Ethnic Studies at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, in exploring the life-world of his childhood chile memories to understand a particular family’s idea of chile eating and what it tells us about where and who they were. Dr. Valle’s lecture reveals a critical framework for interpreting the poetics of “taste, place, and memory” and takes its title from the first chapter of his forthcoming book, The Poetics of Fire: Metaphors of Chile-Eating

Panquetzaliztli: An Aztec Celebration of the Season

Cervantes & Don Quixote Exhibition Opening

2 pm to 5 pm Instituto Cervantes presents an exhibition in four parts, paying homage to Miguel de Cervantes, the famous author of Don Quixote de la Mancha, and commemorating the 400th anniversary of his death.
